Position Summary
This role involves creating and developing detailed electrical and/or mechanical designs using CAD software while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and safety regulations. The position requires collaboration with engineers, project teams, and clients to deliver innovative and reliable solutions, including cost estimates, project documentation, and material specifications. The individual will provide technical expertise, advise junior staff as needed, and drive process improvements to optimize project execution and ensure successful outcomes.
Essential Functions of Position
- Create electrical, and mechanical design drawings.
- Studies relevant codes and regulations and determines how they will affect construction and electrical designs.
- Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create plans for electrical panels, feeders, lighting and mechanical layouts within structures and facilities based on instructions provided by RCE engineers and customers drawings and/or concepts.
- Visits job sites to gather information needed to complete designs.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams and clients. Assists Project Engineering in determining the types and quantity of materials to be ordered.
- Working with RCE engineers assists in generating drawings, cost estimates and other documents required for individual projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including control engineers, project managers, and field technicians, to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical and control systems.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including user manuals, and as-built drawings.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of document creation and project planning/execution.
- Participate in continuous learning and stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Adhere to and promote safety and environmental regulations with both the company and customer. Ensuring a safe working environment for the team and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Interact with clients throughout the design process to fully understand their requirements, provide project updates, and address any concerns or change requests.
- Provide technical support to clients and end-users as needed.
- Create/revise internal standard documentation to ensure repeatability of in-house processes.
Job Qualifications
- Strong experience working with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. Including, but not limited to, the designing/implementing of electrical and controls systems.
- Prior experience working with control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation technology is preferred.
- Ability to draw, interpret, and read graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC), and safety regulations.
- Knowledgeable in National Electric Code NFPA 70 (NEC) and Arc Flash Electrical Safety NFPA 70E Standards
- Knowledge of all OSHA requirements in relation to electrical construction.
- Ability to operate a Windows computer and related software and accessories, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Education
Associates of Electrical Engineering Technology, relevant field, or equivalent experience.
