What are the responsibilities and job description for the Overhead 2nd Class Lineman position at River City Construction, Inc.?
Position Purpose:
Overhead 2nd Class Lineman performs skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electric distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, electrical substations, and related equipment. Other duties include climbing wood poles, ladders, and towers.
Responsibilities/Duties/Knowledge:
- Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
- Comprehend job prints or work orders.
- Install or remove overhead conductors.
- Install or remove wood, steel, or concrete poles and supports.
- With guidance, install or remove capacitors, regulators, transformers, transformer banks, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
- With guidance, troubleshoot primary and secondary systems and clears faulted circuits.
- Properly SAG conductors.
- With guidance, comply with Switching and Tagging procedures.
- Practice Positive Control.
- With guidance, install and remove mechanical jumpers.
- Install and remove coverup.
- With guidance, install and remove personal and equipment grounds.
- Establish Equipotential Grounding when required.
- Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Contribute to the development of and participate in the delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing.
- Work from a bucket or climb different types of structures. Must possess climbing tools.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 or more years of experience High School diploma or equivalent
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to travel and work for extended periods in various locations.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and acceptable driving record
