Duties And Responsibilities
Project Planning and Oversight:
- Lead the planning, execution, and completion of powerline construction projects, ensuring they are finished on time and within budget.
- Develop detailed construction plans, including site assessments, risk management, and scheduling.
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate the work of line crews, subcontractors, and vendors involved in the installation of powerlines.
- Ensure that the workforce is properly trained in safety procedures and technical skills related to powerline construction.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure workers use proper safety gear and equipment while working with high-voltage powerlines.
- Manage the project budget, ensuring that expenditure remains within approved limits.
- Prepare cost estimates, track costs throughout the project lifecycle, and recommend cost-saving measures where appropriate.
- Create and maintain project schedules to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Adjust project timelines based on unforeseen challenges, such as weather delays or material shortages, and provide updates to stakeholders.
- Work closely with external contractors, utility companies, and local government authorities to ensure that work meets all local codes, safety standards, and utility regulations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients and regulatory bodies, providing regular project updates and ensuring all requirements are met.
- Ensure that all work meets industry standards, specifications, and regulations related to powerline construction.
- Inspect work for quality and accuracy and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure all required permits and legal documentation are obtained before starting work.
- Maintain detailed project records, including contracts, change orders, inspection reports, and safety reports.
- Address and resolve challenges related to equipment, manpower, weather, or regulatory issues that arise during the course of the project.
- Work with engineers and other team members to implement solutions that keep the project on track.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, often in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 30lbs.
- Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites as required.
- Field-based work with occasional office duties for project coordination and documentation.
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday work depending on project deadlines.
- Travel between job sites as needed.
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in powerline construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role or managerial role
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and power line industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Must be able to follow RCC safety rules and all other RCC policies.
