Position Purpose
The Matting Foreman is a supervisor who is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and removal of access mats, which provide stable work surfaces for heavy equipment in challenging terrain. They ensure the work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications, while also managing their crew and resources effectively. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Work Environment

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Essential Functions
- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of site preparation and terrain stabilization.
- Ensure safe work practices around electrical construction, including maintaining proper clearances from energized lines, and following OSHA electrical safety regulations to prevent hazards.
- Supervise the installation, removal, and maintenance of access mats for transmission line construction.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to ensure proper mat placement.
- Install erosion control systems, implement environmental protection strategies, and carry out site rehabilitation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Manage a crew of workers, assigning tasks and overseeing daily operations.
- Inspect matting conditions and recommend replacements or adjustments.
- Maintain inventory of matting materials and equipment.
- Troubleshoot site access issues and provide solutions for difficult terrain.
- Supervises crew members.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
- Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Does all other related work as required to complete the job.

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in site preparation, including overseeing groundwork and terrain stabilization, and transmission line construction.
- Must have a valid CDL and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel and work for extended periods in various locations.
- Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
- Able to lift more than 50 lbs.
