Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes (including prevailing wage), ensuring compliance with governmental regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll and HR principles and proficiency in payroll systems (preferably UKG). The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee satisfaction through timely and accurate payroll processing. This role will also be responsible for backing up the Human Resources Manager with a variety of HR tasks.
Duties
- Process weekly payroll (including prevailing wage payroll) for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage the certified payroll reporting process, including filing intents, preparing and distributing certified payroll reports, and filing affidavits as needed.
- Working closely with Controller and VP to process monthly commission checks
- Maintain employee records in the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
- Conduct account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of payroll entries and resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring proper deductions are made from payroll.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate reporting of employee hours worked and leave taken.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries regarding payroll processes.
- Assist with general benefit administration, as well as recruiting, hiring, and onboarding
- Work closely with HR Manager to plan employee events
Qualifications
- Two years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll administration.
- Proficiency in using UKG or similar HRIS systems for payroll processing.
- Familiarity with tax regulations related to payroll processing.
- Knowledge of benefits administration processes as they relate to payroll deductions.
- Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- In-depth knowledge of BOLI prevailing wage requirements and compliance procedures.
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members across departments.
