Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to implement facility housekeeping procedures in an efficient, cost-effective manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
Essential Job Functions – Principal Accountabilities
- Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout the facility.
- Uses cleaning cart to transport cleaning supplies.
- Cleans and disinfects resident rooms and bathrooms.
- Cleans and disinfects kitchen and dining areas..
- Wipes and dusts surfaces in rooms and cleans mirrors.
- Vacuums and cleans floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
- Removes linens, towels, bedspreads, and blankets.
- Places and neatly tucks clean sheets and blankets on beds and replaces pillowcases.
- Stocks towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms.
- Picks up and empties trash containers.
- Checks room for food articles and remove unauthorized items (report and turn in items found).
- Maintains floors safe and clear of obstructions (residents' belongings, supplies/equipment, etc.)
- Loads washers and dryers and folds sheets and towels in laundry room as needed.
- Uses housekeeping supplies efficiently.
- Assists in proper care of housekeeping equipment. Identify and report any equipment malfunction to supervisor.
- Notifies maintenance if something is not working properly.

- Works in all interior areas of the facility, with controlled heating and lighting. May be exposed to excessive heat in laundry.
- Stand, traverse, ascend/descend stairs, move/transport carts weighing over 100 pounds, grasp and manipulate tools/equipment to perform cleaning functions. Occasionally move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Stretch, bend, stoop, squat, twist, crouch, kneel, and balance to perform cleaning activities and to access equipment and supplies.

- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent is required.
Experience: Experience performing the essential functions of the position is desirable.
