River Edge seeks a qualified individual to join as the Group Leader/Substance Abuse Counselor at our outpatient mental health clinic. In this role, you will act as a client advocate, coordinating required services and resolving emergency problems in crisis situations. Responsibilities include collecting information about clients through interviews and observations, utilizing skills training in individual and group sessions, and developing treatment plans based on clinical experience. You will ensure confidentiality of client records, evaluate clients' conditions, and monitor their progress according to treatment plans. Additionally, you will maintain safety and security standards, complete documentation via EMR, and perform other duties as assigned. Duties & Responsibilities
Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
Collects information about clients through interviews and observations.
Utilizes skills training with clients in both individual and group sessions to help them overcome deficiencies, recover from illness, and better adjust to life.
Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
Ensures confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
Evaluates clients' physical or mental condition based on a review of information.
Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plans.
Ensures the safety and security of clients and coworkers, with a good knowledge of agency safety policies and procedures.
Completes documentation via EMR in a timely manner.
Facilitates group therapy sessions, providing guidance, support, and structure to participants.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment approaches.
Provides leadership and supervision to group therapy sessions, ensuring adherence to therapeutic goals and objectives.
Conducts assessments of group dynamics and adjusts interventions as needed to optimize outcomes.
Implements evidence-based practices and interventions tailored to the specific needs of group participants.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of group therapy sessions and participant progress.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CACII/CADCII) certification.
At least one (1) year of experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Demonstrate knowledge and expertise with the chronically mentally ill population.

Demonstrate expertise and knowledge in mental health and substance abuse services and community resources.
Exemplify excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.

Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential client records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
