River Edge offers outpatient services at our Emery Highway-Macon, Monroe County and Baldwin County locations. Outpatient services include behavioral health, nursing, and psychiatric assessment, stabilization and medication maintenance services as well as crisis intervention services as well as awareness, education and recovery groups.

River Edge is currently seeking a Full-time Health Service Technician for our Crisis Services. In this role, the technician provides direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, fostering positive relationships and ensuring client safety. Responsibilities include facilitating self-help activities, reporting changes in clients' conditions, documenting services provided, and assisting with meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and other assigned duties.
Schedule: 4pm-12 Midnight - work 5 days per week with rotating weekends- off one day per week.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Fosters positive relationships between caretakers and individuals served.
  • Ensures client safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Encourages self-help activities.
  • Reports changes in client’s condition or family situation to administrators and supervisors.
  • Documents services provided.
  • Plans meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
  • Accompanies clients to scheduled appointments and transports clients or running errands for clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one (1) year experience working with behavioral health clients (mental health, substance abuse, developmental disabilities).
  • Must be computer literate.
  • All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.
  • Provide 2 Professional reference Statements (Former employers only, no family members)
Competencies:
Knowledge of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD): Understanding of the unique needs, challenges, and care requirements of individuals with IDD, including knowledge of behavioral management techniques and communication strategies.
Crisis Intervention Skills: Ability to effectively respond to crisis situations, including de-escalation techniques, implementing crisis management protocols, and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis.
Documentation and Reporting: Proficiency in documenting services provided, maintaining accurate records, and effectively communicating changes in clients' conditions or family situations to administrators and supervisors.
Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrating empathy towards individuals with disabilities and their families, showing understanding, patience, and sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities to build positive relationships with individuals served, caretakers, and colleagues, facilitating effective collaboration and ensuring clear and respectful communication in all interactions.
