Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize patient medical records in both electronic and physical formats
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal regulations regarding the confidentiality and security of health information
- Conduct regular audits of health records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance
- Process and fulfill legal and third-party requests for medical records in a timely and secure manner
- Assist with internal and external audits, quality assurance checks, and reporting
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support documentation standards and recordkeeping best practices
- Stay current on changes in health information laws, standards, and technologies
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field
- RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification required
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record documentation standards
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a healthcare or medical records setting
