The Huron River Watershed Council (HRWC) seeks a highly collaborative nonprofit marketer with expertise in digital marketing strategies including website management for our Ann Arbor, Michigan-based environmental nonprofit. We engage local audiences in science, pollution prevention, river recreation, river protection and restoration, and policy advocacy.

Position Description
The Marketing Manager will lead HRWC’s digital marketing initiatives across web, email, and social media channels with a focus on website management and optimization. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to drive engagement and support our mission through our digital channels. The Marketing Manager also provides comprehensive marketing strategy and support for key organizational and outreach projects working collaboratively with cross-functional project teams and with HRWC’s fundraising and community engagement staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Website Management (25%)
- Oversee all aspects of website management, including content updates, user experience optimization, and technical maintenance
- Collaborate with external IT teams to ensure website security, performance, and functionality
- Manage website analytics and develop data-driven strategies for improvement
- Direct website redesign projects and ongoing optimization initiatives
- Support HRWC team with website access, training, and content development
Integrated Digital Marketing (25%)
Develop and implement comprehensive data-driven digital marketing strategies aligned with organizational and programmatic goalsParticipate in managing content calendar across all digital platformsWork with team to design, implement and create content for both email marketing and social media campaignsMentor team in managing social media presence and strategyManage analytics and performance measurement and reporting across email and social media platformsProject-Based Marketing Support (30%)
Serve as marketing lead on assigned organizational initiatives and special projectsDevelop marketing plans for specific programs or campaignsCraft marketing strategies and budgets to inform grant proposal developmentCreate marketing materials and collateral to support project goalsCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure marketing alignmentManage project timelines and deliverables for marketing componentsTrack and report on project-specific marketing metricsBrand Management and Strategy (10%)
Contribute to HRWC’s overall marketing and communications strategy, working collaboratively to develop and implement plans that meet goalsManage HRWC’s brand and positioning across all channels and programsIntegrate inclusive messaging to expand the diversity of HRWC’s audienceEnsure all content is accurate, inclusive, engaging and brand-alignedOrganizational Support (10%)
Manage relationships with marketing vendors and contractorsCollaborate with staff and board to effectively communicate mission impactTrain staff in content management systems and digital best practicesMentor team members in digital marketing principlesParticipate in HRWC strategic planningDevelop and maintain tools and systems to manage the organization and department processes, assets and filesSupervise volunteers and interns as neededRequired Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in marketing and communications with practical expertise in digital marketingDemonstrated experience managing websites and CMS platformsProven track record of directing successful digital marketing campaigns and knowledge of industry trendsAdvanced proficiency in analytics tools (Google Analytics)Experience developing email marketing strategies and proficiency with platformsExperience in developing social media strategies (organic and paid) and proficiency with management toolsStrong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple prioritiesHighly skilled at collaborating with othersStrategic thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal communication and writing skills with strong attention to detailSelf-motivated and able to work independentlyValues aligned with HRWC, including a commitment to equity, inclusion, and environmental justicePreferred Qualifications
