Program Summary :

The Juvenile Justice Diversion and Treatment Program for Children and Transition Age Youth is a Full-Service Partnership for youth involved with the juvenile justice system or displaying behavior that could lead to involvement with the juvenile justice system. JJDTP is designed to enable youth with mental health symptoms and / or behavior challenges to remain in their homes, schools, and communities by providing a comprehensive array of mental health services and supports to the youth and their families. As substance use issues are common in the TAY population, coordinating co-occurring services is a priority. This program serves youth over time and will support them in transitioning successfully into adulthood. Youth are referred between the ages of 13 and 17 years and may participate up to age 26.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Build relationships based on trust with the goal of improving the overall functioning of clients and families. Utilize reflective listening and mirroring skills in the engagement of clients and families
  • Comprehend principles of youth development and resilience; ability to identify client and family assets
  • Ability to recognize behavior that may compromise safety; follow established protocol to minimize risk
  • Understands responsibilities associated with child abuse reporting (i.e. timelines, notification of appropriate agencies, documentation)
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of specific program and position responsibilities; provides services in accordance with program and contract requirements.
  • Understand resource opportunities within the community, and supports clients and families to utilize community resources
  • Proficient with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Maintain a variety of online recordkeeping and documentation processes and systems, ensuring all relevant confidentiality and privacy requirements are met

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Must have Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with major course work in a behavioral science or a closely related field
  • An Associate of arts degree in behavioral science and completion of behavioral theory courses
  • PLUS, at least two (2) years of relevant experience

  • Experience in a direct client care residential, day treatment, foster care and / or community outreach program is highly desirable
  • Must have excellent organizational, relationship, behavioral and communications skills, sensitivity to differences in culture, and knowledge of child development
  • Must have the ability to meet the professional standards and requirements for assigned duties and responsibilities
