Reporting to the Aquatics Operations Manager; The ROCC Swim Instructor is enthusiastic, confident, motivated and qualified teacher of both group and private lessons. The Swim Instructor assists in leading other special programs as assigned.
Part-time seasonal positions available | Competitive Commission-Based Pay Structure | 50% commission per lesson | $25.00 - $50.00
Lessons Available M-F (Afternoon-Evenings) and Weekend (Mornings)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows designed swim lesson curriculum
- Creates goals for individual’s progression
- Lead and motivate participants
- Ability to effectively communicate to members, guests and staff
- Evaluate participant performance and progress
- Records class participation for lessons and charges transactions for private lessons
- Educating swimmers on water safety and life-saving principles
- Teaching current and industry leading strokes and techniques
- Ensure the pool or training area is neat and free of hazards
- Respond to emergencies in pool or poolside in tandem with the facility safety team
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of Swim Lesson Teaching experience or Competitive swimming background at a high school or higher level
- Possess in-depth knowledge of all four competitive strokes
- Good knowledge of health and nutrition
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Ability to obtain Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification from American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
- Ability to demonstrate swimming skills
- Ability to work outside in the poolside area up to 95% of the time, exposed to sunlight, wet and humid conditions, and heat occasionally exceeding 100 degrees and cold as 50 degrees
- Ability to spend long periods of time in the water
- Coaching or Swim Instructor certifications from accredited organization are preferred
