Job Description
Position Title:
Adult Education Instructor (Part-Time, Evening)
General Position Summary:
Maintain accurate student records. Attend to incoming students, in-person or via phone. Administer orientation. Demonstrate efficiency with data collection and reporting. Help students improve their basic math, reading comprehension, language, and computer skills so they can achieve a high school equivalency and/or industry-based credentials (IBC) to secure entry-level employment or advance in their current occupation. Develop, deliver, revise, and teach academic instruction up to the college level, focusing on College and Career Readiness. Demonstrate student focus, with a passion for serving adults in attaining basic skills, digital skills, English proficiency, high school equivalency credentials, and encouraging the continuing pursuit of education and/or training.

Schedule:
Monday through Thursday, 5 pm to 8 pm, or as needed outside this schedule for special events, meetings, or to meet student needs

Essential Functions:
- Oversee all aspects of Orientation, i.e., oral presentation, TABE administration, etc.
- Organizing student records for accuracy and completeness
- Submit weekly attendance and score reports to the Assistant Director
- Monitor minor student attendance to ensure minimum attendance is completed
- Assist current and potential students upon visiting or calling the campus
- Serve on Adult Education and RPCC committees as requested by the Director or RPCC Leadership
- Maintain accurate student records and data, i.e., forms, attendance, etc.
- Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities
- Utilize and provide direct instruction through innovative, effective, and equitable teaching techniques
- Participates in developing, revising, and monitoring the implementation of the curriculum
- Provide classroom instruction, feedback, and direct student learning using available technology
- Guide students through assessments and create an individualized career plan
- Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested
- Meet all deadlines
- Keeps abreast of developments, research, and new technology.
- Participate in campus activities and recruitment
- Demonstrate a solid commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Adult Education
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution
- Two years of teaching experience
- Satisfactory background check
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution with a concentration in Education
- Two years of teaching experience with adult learners over the age of 18
- Dependable – punctual
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize tasks – good time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others
- Demonstrate basic skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Demonstrate proficiency in Canvas
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent interaction with staff, students, and the public; Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, and bending
- $25 per hour; 12 hours per week
