Acadia Healthcare-River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, provides state-of-the-art psychiatric care for adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns.
Supervise the daily operations of patient intake and/or admissions, which may include call and referral management, scheduling of assessments and admissions, completion of benefit verification, and prioritization of completion of all precertification’s.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- For assigned shift will plan, assign, supervise, perform required duties to ensure patient safety and the efficiency of the department.
- Prioritization of potential admissions, considering patient needs and the facility’s capability and capacity to meet that need in the most appropriate and manner.
- Knowledge of milieu management.
- Knowledge of appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
- Coordination with the business office to ensure that timely and accurate financial counseling of patients occurs when appropriate.
- Provide guidance and direction to staff and encourage/build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members.
- Ensure that EMTALA log, if applicable, is completed for each patient seen by admissions.
- Participate in staff training by serving as a preceptor for new admission team employees.
- Report shift challenges promptly to AOC, Admissions Manager or Admissions Director.
- Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a social service field is required.
- Master’s degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
- If a Registered Nurse, an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
- Two or more years’ experience in a healthcare admissions role required.
- One or more years’ supervisory experience required.
