Job Summary:
The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of all plant equipment and facilities at three concrete mix plant locations. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all machinery, conveyors, batch plants, silos, and other production-related infrastructure, excluding truck maintenance. The Maintenance Manager’s goal is to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment, machinery, and facilities across three concrete mix plant locations in Savannah, Guyton and Hardeeville.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to reduce equipment failures and improve plant reliability.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues related to plant operations.
- Coordinate and manage repairs, upgrades, and replacements of batching systems, conveyors, silos, water systems, and other critical plant components.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, and other safety regulations; conduct regular safety audits and training.
- Manage maintenance budgets, including parts inventory, tools, and contractor/vendor services.
- Schedule and supervise maintenance personnel, assigning tasks and monitoring work to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in compliance with company policies.
- Work closely with operations, production, and quality control teams to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance needs and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner to support continuous plant operations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have his/her own tools. A company vehicle will be provided for travel between plants.
- Must have working knowledge of electrical wiring systems and components
- Must have working knowledge of pneumatic systems and components
- Arc welding and metal fabrication knowledge and experience is required
- Must possess strong knowledge of concrete batch plants, conveyors, mixers, silos, pumps, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, plumbing, and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, including safety training, inspections, and compliance reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using standard maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to collaborate well with a team.
- Criminal background check clearance.
- Negative drug test screening
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed in an industrial setting with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Requires the ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or emergency call-ins.
- Travel between the three plant locations as needed
