Your Role as an Elementary Teacher
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to design and implement appropriate services for students.
- Classroom Leadership: Provide guidance, leadership, and direction within the classroom.
- Teach Multiple Subjects: May be responsible for teaching multiple subject areas, depending on the needs of the students.
- Maintain Student Confidentiality: Ensure student confidentiality by adhering to agency policy, FERPA, HIPAA privacy regulations, and confidentiality standards.
- Track Student Progress: Monitor and assess student development, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to support student success.
- Manage Challenging Behaviors: Implement behavior support plans and manage challenging behaviors as needed.
- Support Collaborative Environment: Work closely with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Advocate for Students: Ensure compliance with educational laws and advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities.
- Create Positive Learning Space: Build a positive, engaging classroom environment where every student feels supported and can thrive
Required Qualifications
- Must hold an active PA teaching certification, such as a Private Academic Certificate, Level I or II Pennsylvania Instructional Special Education Certification K-12.
- Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least six credit hours in special education may qualify for a Temporary Private Academic Certificate.
- All New Story School/River Rock Academy teachers must have their PA license in place by August 1, 2025.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
