Position Overview:
We are seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician who is committed to providing high-quality care, collaborating with our veterinary team, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients. Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians during physical exams, surgical procedures, and medical treatments, ensuring all necessary tools and equipment are prepared, sterile, and readily available.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and radiology procedures, while accurately documenting results.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
  • Provide proper animal handling techniques to ensure the safety of both staff and animals during examinations, treatments, and while monitoring sedated or anesthetized patients.
  • Skillfully place IV catheters and draw blood from multiple veins in dogs and cats.
  • Monitor animal health by observing behavior, vital signs, and physical condition, promptly reporting any changes to the veterinarian.
  • Triage and manage emergent cases with efficiency and care, offering expert care for hospitalized and surgical patients.
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices, nutrition, and preventive care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, ensuring sterilization of instruments, proper disposal of waste, and the readiness of the clinic for the next day.
  • Manage patient records using veterinary terminology to ensure accurate and thorough documentation of treatments, procedures, and client communications.

Requirements:

  • A degree or certification in Veterinary Technology or a related field is required.
  • Availability to work shifts from 12pm to 10pm or 2pm to 12am, including at least one weekend shift per week.
  • A minimum of 1 year of licensure is preferred.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and handle physically demanding tasks.
  • Knowledge of other species than canine/feline is a plus!
  • A solid understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and handling techniques is essential.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and dental terminology is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
  • Proficiency in drawing blood from multiple veins on both dogs and cats.
  • Experience in monitoring sedated or anesthetic procedures.
  • Skill in placing IV catheters in dogs and cats.

Job Type: Full-time Preferred, Part-time considered

Expected Hours: 20 – 40 per week
