What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Staff and Community Development position at River Valley Behavioral Health?
Job Summary:
Coordinates and oversees staff development and training activities to support quality service delivery. Expected areas of focus include but are not limited to: 1) Orientation and training activities in-person at all NMS locations state-wide and various community locations as indicated, 2) cultural competency and diversity, 3) documentation, 4) productivity and efficiency, 5) staff development and skill enhancement activities, 6) other duties and special projects as assigned and developed.
Essential Functions:
Staff Training & Orientation: Provides in-person support to all NMS locations state-wide overseeing, coordinating, and providing staff development and training activities as evidenced by:
- Provides orientation and training to all new employees to include, but not limited to, NMS program service array and locations/sites, company and program policies and procedures, program specific operations, resource usage (including equipment, system resources, EHR, etc.).
- Coordinates training program(s) for existing employees incorporating requirements from regulating entities (such as state/CARF/special contract) as well as identified program/site specific needs.
- Takes a leadership role in development, and delivery of ongoing staff development and trainings.
- Takes a leadership role in needs identification and development of staff training tools, workflows, or other aids to support staffs successful quality service delivery and documentation.
- Acts as a liaison with community partners to include, but not limited to, providing training and education on behalf of NMS to community partners/affiliates, supporting outreach and recruitment efforts, and identification of external training opportunities, topics, and trainers to benefit NMS staff.
- Oversees, coordinates, or provides specific regular/required training such as CPI, CPR/First Aid, MH First Aid for both internal (staff) and external (community) populations.
- Modeling excellent customer service skills, patient interaction, and teamwork.

- Demonstrating excellent organizational skills.

- Demonstrating the use of effective engagement skills.

Staff Development Activities: Participates in staff development activities to increase skills and professional development as evidenced by:
- Participating in and completing all required trainings in an accurate and timely manner.
Other: Completes other administrative and operational support duties and special projects as developed and assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in human service, human resources, or related field preferred OR
- High school diploma/GED and 3 years experience in staff development and training.
- Experience: Dependent on education (see above). Experience in staff development and training preferred. Certification as trainer in CPI, CPR/First Aid, MH First Aid preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent communication skills and ability to connect with a variety of team(s)/groups. Knowledge of behavioral health services. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Ability to create/develop and/or procure training content based on a variety of needs/requirements. conduct interviews and meetings and to manage time and prioritize projects. Good writing and verbal skills.
