As part of the Global Project Department at River Valley Church, the Global Project Associate Pastor is primarily responsible to manage the day-to-day development and growth of the Global Project Team as well as owning Global Teams, Global Initiatives, Global Project Marketing, Global Project Small Groups, Global Interns, Volunteer Teams, and helping the synergistic goal of fulfilling the vision of the River Valley 500.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Global Project Associate Pastor is expected to perform a range of duties, including but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the Global Project team and interns
- Bring overall leadership, development, and supervisory energy to the Global Project Staff
- Recruit and develop Global Project interns
- Meet regularly with staff and interns to check in on, encourage, and pour into them, stretching them towards greater personal growth
- Provide direction and leadership to River Valley’s Global Team strategy
- Work collaboratively with the Pastor of Global Missions to decide on locations and leadership for River Valley global teams
- Develop a system that ensures quality hosts, leaders, and financial practices for all Global Teams
- Work closely with Global Team Managers to train and help with challenges, trends, and leader training, as needed.
- Continually work to improve the Global Team experience for all parties and participants
- Implement and oversee Global initiatives and projects
- Provide leadership, execution, and assist with buildout for the School of Missions internship (expected launch Fall 2025)
- Plan and coordinate various events throughout the year
- Ideate and implement prayer initiatives
- Recruit and train new Global Project Serve Team members
- Provide ongoing support and connection to River Valley Missionaries, partners, organizations, and goers
- Work closely with the Pastor of Global Missions and team on a regular review of all Global Project partner support requests
- Be available to support the River Valley Missionary Pipeline, including assisting in the development of tools and resources for advocates and future missionaries
- Steward and empower discipleship in the area of Global Missions
- Lead the growth and ongoing development of Explore small groups
- Provide ongoing resources and support to Explore leaders, as needed
- Work with campuses and church leadership to model and teach the value and role the entire church plays in the Great Commission
- Collaborate and steward Global Project Marketing
- Work with Creative Team on marketing initiatives and content, including Global Teams announcements and swag, prayer for the nations content, graphical installations, film projects, and communication initiatives
- Connect with and support the Pastor of Global Missions
- Provide updates, share information, and receive feedback and direction, as needed, on current projects
- Collaborate with the Pastor of Global Missions regarding River Valley’s global missions history and vision
- Assist the Pastor of Global Missions in supporting our Elders, senior leadership, Campus Pastors, and other key stakeholders in their commitment to the global vision of River Valley Church
- Attend weekend services, rotating across all River Valley campuses
- Operate as Global Project champion for Global Missions endeavors
- Assist with 5 Spots and Commissioning moments as needed
- Recruit and connect with Global Team Leaders and Global Project Serve Team members
- Lead or Co-Lead Global Project Teams, as requested by leadership (approximately 1-2x/year)
- Assist Pastor of Global Missions with pastoral care requests, as needed
- Be available to perform weddings, funerals, and assist with campus services as needed
Other Responsibilities
Individual will complete responsibilities in accordance with the church’s policies and applicable procedures as assigned. Ability to travel and other duties as assigned.
As a pastor of River Valley Church, you will be given the authority to perform “sacerdotal functions” according to IRS guidelines and “must be able to perform substantially all the religious functions of an ordained minister to be treated as a minister for social security purposes.” It is expected that you will fulfill your pastoral duties as needed to uphold the requirements put in place by the IRS
Qualifications
- Proficient in administrative and leadership skills
- Experience in managing and developing paid staff as well as volunteer teams
- Ability to be professional and empathetic in interpersonal communications
- Ability to identify, manage, and communicate a wide variety of detailed information
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Education
A bachelor’s degree is required, with preference given to areas of ministry related study. Pastoral credentials required or must be actively pursuing credentials. Preference given to individuals with credentials through the Assemblies of God.
Experience
Successful candidate should have at least 4-7 years experience in team leadership, office management, or other related fields. A clear understanding of River Valley’s DNA, a passion for missions, and experience on a Global Team is strongly preferred.
