What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Pastor position at River Valley Church?
As part of the NextGen Department at River Valley Church, the Kids Pastor/Ministry Lead is responsible for overseeing all elements of ministry to children at the campus, from birth through 5th grade. This includes overseeing weekend, mid-week, and special event programming, along with managing special events and other campus staff specific to Kids ministry. This position also acts as the lead for all Kids specific interns at the Faribault campus.
Hours: This position is part-time, and is 20-24 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Kids Pastor/Ministry Lead is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
Weekend Responsibilities

Be the leader available to oversee Early Childhood and Elementary programs each weekend in the areas of training, troubleshooting and recruitment.
- Recruit, Train, and regularly schedule volunteers needed to care for kids at all weekend services
- Raise up volunteer leaders to present in the Elementary & Preschool rooms. Step in to serve as lead presenter, as needed.
- Review over lesson plans received from Central Services for each week and make necessary adjustments applicable to the campus. This includes ensuring you have all the graphics and promotional materials for each series prepped and ready for each room prior to services.
Campus Leadership
- Be a champion for the vision of KiDS amongst families with young children. Regularly share the vision for empowering parents with tools they can use to lead their children into a strong, personal faith journey.
- Ensure NextGen and KiDS best practices, policies, strategies and leadership initiatives are in place.

Oversee the midweek program
- Find and modify curriculum for the weekly evening programming
- Schedule volunteers that will be helping and presenting that curriculum on a weekly basis while giving direction for weekly lessons.
- Manage purchasing of supplies for the campus specific to Kids ministry, which includes furniture, toys, signage and equipment in general.
- Work to effectively transition KiDS graduates to the Youth ministry
Central KiDS Team
- Participate in Kids team connects (including Ministry Mondays), workaways, and house wide events with KiDS leadership
- Work closely with the KiDS team to brainstorm and develop ideas on series topics, Kidmin ministry strategy, and ongoing development and improvement of KiDS programming.
- Act as Ministry Mentor for Kids Interns to assist them with goal setting, assigning them projects, give them weekend specific responsibility and pieces to own.
Other Responsibilities
Individual will complete responsibilities in accordance with the churchs policies and applicable procedures as assigned. Ability to travel and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills with children, teenagers and adults
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at a time, discerning and setting appropriate goals and timelines
- High level of creativity and flexibility
- Proficient in use of G-Suite as well as Database usage
Education
A four-year bachelors degree is desired with preference given to a pastoral or other ministry-related degree. Qualified candidates should either have ministerial credentials or be working towards obtaining credentials. Credentials with the Assemblies of God are preferred.
Experience
Successful candidate should have 2-4 years related experience
