The Holyoke Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice Life Care are looking to hire a Volunteer Coordinator.

Position responsibilities
Participate in the Agency process improvement plan by reviewing data collected through process improvement activities and recommending new or revised policies and procedures based on process improvement findings.

Position responsibilities
- Coordinates Volunteer Program in accordance with Holyoke VNA and Hospice Life Care short and long-term goals.
- Directs an ongoing recruiting effort to increase volunteer participation.
- Screen all potential volunteers
- Plans and conducts training classes as necessary.
- Assures that the program meets the standards set by regulatory or certification bodies regarding the participation of volunteers.
- Assesses patients, families, and areas of the program for potential volunteer involvement through participation at interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Assigns volunteers to appropriate activities.
- Monitors report from the volunteers and bring urgent items to the attention of the IDT as appropriate.
- Maintains ongoing communication with volunteers
- Provides directions for the solving of problems involving volunteers
- Submits timely reports to the Director of Marketing and Business Development regarding volunteer activities and levels of participation.
- Evaluates all volunteers at least annually.
- Designs ongoing continuing education programs for volunteers.
- Maintains volunteer personnel files.
- Advanced computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Provides assistance and supports fundraising events and initiatives for the hospice, through the use of volunteers.
- Provides support during the absence of the Director of Marketing and Business Development.
- Designs volunteer appreciation activities or programs.
- Maintains records of volunteer activity to meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates complimentary programs (i.e. Massage Therapy/Reiki, Therapy Dog Program, Music
- Provides assistance, as needed, in community outreach, fundraising and business development activities.

Education and/or Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Colleague degree (AS or BS) preferred.
- Experience in Social Services, Human Services, Resource Management or related fields is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desired.
- Prior experience managing volunteer services or non-profit organizations is a plus.
- License/Certification: Valid driver's license for an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or agency requirements and is in good working order.
