General Responsibilities:
Responsible for greeting customers, scheduling of appointments, providing information, and communicating with departments.
Reports To: Office Manager/Team Lead

Essential Functions:
- Greets patients and visitors in polite, prompt, helpful manner and checks patients in upon arrival.
- Assists patients on how to complete the Household Assistance application and Prescription Assistance application including what documentation is required.
- Responsible for verifying patients’ insurance eligibility.
- Updates patient information, collects co-pays, provides any necessary forms needing completion, and obtains signatures as necessary.
- Answers phones in pleasant manner and deals with customer needs expeditiously and uses the medical records system to properly document phone calls to other staff
- Supports initiatives such as Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Meaningful Use (MU)
- Participates and encourages diversity and inclusion within RVPCS.
- Float to other RVPCS clinics to help with coverage as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in customer service setting preferred.
- 1 year receptionist experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Epic experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Minimum of 50 wpm typing skill preferred.
- Knowledge of office equipment and handling paperwork/filing adequately.
- Customer service principles by creating a pleasant waiting room atmosphere.
- Bilingual is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of receptionist tasks and clinic policies/procedures.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.
- Ability to communicate clearly, establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other visitors.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
This position is governed by mandated Federal and State regulations and the policies and procedures of River Valley Primary Care Services.
