Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while supporting veterinarians in their daily tasks. This position requires a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
• Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations, treatments, nail trimming, drawing blood, and basic grooming
• Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
• Dispensing, labeling, and renewing medication
• Perform basic laboratory tests, prepare slides and assist with diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each animal.
• Billing and processing payments

Skills

• A proactive attitude towards learning new skills and adapting to various situations in a veterinary setting
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members
• Ability to learn and perform basic laboratory tasks related to animal health assessments and care
• Experience with animal handling, behavior, and training techniques is preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Attention to detail and well organized
• Positive and adaptive thinker

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends
