Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Manager of Volunteer Services to oversee our volunteer program. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities for the assigned branch/branches.
Duties
· Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program, to include initial, annual and policy change education.
· Document and demonstrate viable and on-going efforts to recruit and retain volunteers.
· Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family and/or caregiver(s) as well as the hospice team.
· Interview, supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
· Provides initial and ongoing training.
· Maintains monthly statistics and provide them to the Patient Care Manager or Administrator monthly. (Hours, cost saving, level of activity)
· Maintainsfiles on current and previous volunteers.
· Continuously reevaluate and adapt volunteer program as necessary.
· Coordinate support/education meetings for volunteers.
Serves as a liaison between volunteers and the IDG to ensure volunteers are informed of plan of care and other information. Relays information, observations, and concerns from volunteers in IDG.
· Provides information and education to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
· Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
· Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
· Ensure company meets Medicare’s minimum of 5% volunteer hours
· Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.
· Works within the local communities at least 50% of the time.
· Participates with facility activities at least 5 hours per week.
Qualifications
-College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a health care setting. Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
-Ability to supervise, coordinates, and evaluates volunteer services.
-Understands hospice philosophy.
-Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
- Ability to drive at dawn or dusk.
