A Transportation Aide plays a crucial role in transporting residents to and from long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, assisted living centers, or rehabilitation centers. They ensure safe, comfortable, and reliable transportation for elderly or disabled individuals, often providing a more personal level of care than a typical bus driver.

Job Location : Muscoda, WI
Pay : Starting at $18 per hour and increases with experience
Key Responsibilities :
1. Safe and Efficient Transportation :
- Safely transport residents to medical appointments, or other scheduled activities.
- Ensure that the vehicle is maintained in good condition and is fully operational for each trip.
- Assist residents with boarding, disembarking, and securing mobility aids (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers).
2. Resident Care & Assistance :
Provide a high level of care, assisting residents in and out of the bus as needed, offering physical support while maintaining dignity and comfort.Monitor residents for any health or safety concerns during transit and report any issues to nursing or facility staff.Ensure residents' seat belts or safety restraints are fastened properly for the duration of the ride.3. Documentation and Communication :
Complete and maintain necessary documentation related to trips, including sign-in sheets, medical transportation logs, and incident reports (if applicable).Communicate with facility staff about any transportation-related issues, such as delays, maintenance needs, or resident conditions.Report any accidents, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly.4. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety :
Perform daily checks of the bus before and after trips to ensure the vehicle is clean, fueled, and safe to drive.Report maintenance or repair needs to management in a timely manner.Follow all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of all passengers.5. Customer Service & Compassionate Care :
Demonstrate empathy and patience in working with elderly, disabled, or ill residents.Ensure that residents feel comfortable, respected, and well-cared-for during their transportation.Address any concerns or needs of the residents during the ride and report any unusual behavior to healthcare staff.6. Safety Protocols :
Ensure that all safety protocols, including seatbelt usage and medical needs during transport, are adhered to.Assist residents with loading and unloading wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, ensuring proper securing during transport.Provide basic assistance in emergencies, such as calling for medical help if necessary, and following emergency procedures.7. Adherence to Schedules :
Maintain punctuality for scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs, coordinating with family members, healthcare providers, or other caregivers.Manage time effectively to ensure timely arrival at medical appointments or activities.Qualifications & Skills :
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent.Completion of any state-required driver training programs.Licensing & Certification :CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)Clean driving record and no history of traffic violations.Experience :Experience driving large vehicles (e.g., buses, vans, or shuttle vehicles), preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is a plus.Skills :Excellent driving and navigation skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to stay calm and focused in emergencies.Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a focus on customer service.Good physical health, capable of assisting with lifting and supporting residents as needed.Physical Demands :
Ability to lift or assist with lifting residents into or out of the vehicle.Ability to sit and drive for long periods of time.Ability to handle emergency situations, including assisting with evacuations or providing first aid as necessary.Work Environment :
The position involves driving in various weather conditions and road types.Interaction with residents, healthcare staff, and family members.May include early morning, evening, or weekend hours depending on the facility's needs.Additional Notes :
