POSITION: Coordinator of Safety

SUPERVISOR: Superintendent

Description:

The employee is expected to work under the direct supervision of the Superintendent and site Principals to fulfill a variety of school safety responsibilities for the District. Accountable for the effective management of a safe, clean, and orderly learning and working environment ensuring the protection of persons and properties of the District. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Development of written plans and grants (e.g. Comprehensive School Safety Plan, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, School Violence Prevention Program Grant)
• Training (e.g. required employee training(s), crisis management system, emergency drills and crisis response)
• Supervision (e.g. school campuses, athletic events, home-to-school walking routes)
• Community engagement (e.g. home visits, community activities, conflict intervention)
• Collaboration with technology staff (e.g. security cameras, radio platform, alarm systems)
• Collaboration with maintenance staff (e.g. access management, signage, work orders for facility repairs)
• Financial responsibilities (e.g. department budget development, supply orders, project management)
• Student engagement (e.g. daily interactions and relationship building, mentoring, enforcement of rules/expectations and reporting to administrators) Effective communication skills, oral and written, are necessary.

Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. May have completed formal or informal training sufficient to clearly demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to perform the job. School safety and security experience or experience in a related field is necessary. CPR and First Aid. Valid driver's license.

Assignment: 12-month position.

Working Conditions/Location: School site(s) environment, subject to interruptions/Riverdale Joint Unified School District.

Salary: Salaried position. Placement is on the Coordinator of Safety salary schedule.
