We are seeking a chemist to join our team at a manufacturing and production facility for consumer packaged goods. The chemist will assist our R&D Director in formulating, testing, and ensuring the quality of our products. This position requires a passion for formulating, chemistry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the development and formulation of consumer packaged goods/products.
- Collaborate with R&D team to create innovative and effective formulations.
- Perform routine testing and analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications, troubleshooting and addressing any deviations.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
- Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately.
- Prepare technical reports and assist in maintaining product development records.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and standards related to consumer packaged goods/products.
- Observe all manufacturing safety SOPs and GMP.
- Promote, support and adhere to all safety, environmental and quality related policies and procedures.
- Supports company’s efforts in implementation of new technologies and manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to communicate with others as well as management and understand FDA guidelines and company policies.
- Ability to communicate in English: read, write and speak.
- Ability to read and interpret technical directions.
- Competence in math computation necessary (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure) for formulation scale-up.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to interpret SDS's and understand Hazardous Identification System.
- Ensure products comply with relevant regulations and certifications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams when necessary, including production, quality assurance, and marketing, to ensure smooth product development and launch.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in personal care product development.
- An understanding of formulation techniques.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques and instruments used in formulation testing.
SKILLS
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in laboratory work.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and other relevant software applications.
