Position overview:
Provides internal and external support for all business channels related to the credit unions indirect lending department. Responsible for maintaining strong relationships with external business partners by communicating consistently with dealers participating in the Credit Union Direct Lending (CUDL), and other indirect programs. Acts as primary liaison between dealer representatives, indirect lending staff, and underwriters.
Primary responsibilities:
- Maintains relationships with dealers participating in any of our current indirect lending programs. Serves as a resource via phone to dealer personnel to explain lending guidelines, decision details, required stipulations, and acceptable documentation. Educates dealer personnel on the Credit Unions lending programs.
- Acts as primary contact for dealers bringing in new business to the credit union. Regularly communicates with dealer representatives regarding loan requests, required documentation, loan decisions, and counteroffers. Includes follow-up on files as needed and provides dealers with efficient, professional service.
- Interacts with funding and underwriting staff as needed to follow approvals and documentation requirements from dealerships. Contacts dealership personnel for information required by underwriting and funding departments.
- Notifies management of concerns with dealer personnel. Monitors applications for unsound business practices and/or discrepancies in information. May perform routine customer interviews to validate application information.
- Provides outstanding service and support by serving as a knowledgeable resource in appropriate areas. Answers questions of dealers, and members to appropriately manage expectations throughout the loan process. Responds effectively to dealer and member problems and complaints.
Must-haves:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Minimum two years previous experience in a financial institution or similar organization in lending, preferably in a processing role.
- Capable of working independently and successfully balancing shifting priorities.
- Thorough knowledge of the Credit Unions operational and lending policies and procedures. Understands federal and state laws and regulations applicable to lending and basic deposit accounts.
- Ability to thoroughly understand all of the credit union consumer loan products and services, interest rates, and how interest rates are calculated.
- Thorough knowledge of loan documentation and underwriting criteria for all consumer loan types used through the indirect channel.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the necessary forms, regulations, documents, and timelines to perfect security interests on collateralized loans.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally in group and individual settings and develop positive internal working relationships.
- Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using personal computers, particularly Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Must be technologically savvy, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and software applications.
