Your Role as a Principal
- Supervision & Compliance: Oversees staff, daily operations, and adherence to school policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Curriculum & Student Placement: Collaborates with teachers on curriculum standards, student assessments, placement, and instructional improvements.
- Student Services & Support: Manages counseling, treatment planning, behavioral crisis response, and student guidance.
- Operational Management: Ensures proper scheduling, transportation, facility maintenance, and availability of materials and supplies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Reports student progress to relevant parties and fosters professional relationships with students, parents, and agencies.
- Staff Development & HR Liaison: Organizes training, supports recruitment, employee relations, and fosters a team environment.
- Quality & Safety Oversight: Monitors service outcomes, ensures public health and safety, and protects instructional time from disruptions.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree.
- Certification by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) with endorsement in either special education or adaptive curriculum or Certification in another state.
- Valid Virginia Drivers License
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
- Active listening and emotional intelligence to support students’ needs.
- Ability to foster a positive, professional school environment with patience and adaptability.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
