Your Role as an Assistant Principal
- Staff & Operations Support: Assists in supervising staff, daily operations, and ensuring adherence to school policies, VDOE regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Student Services & Assessment: Supports student assessments, appropriate class placement, treatment planning, and behavioral crisis management.
- Curriculum & Resources: Provides curriculum guides, ensures availability of materials, supplies, and equipment, and aids in purchasing school resources.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Helps maintain compliance with accreditation requirements and reports student progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Scheduling & Transportation: Assists with staff scheduling, activity planning, and managing school transportation, including safety and maintenance.
- Quality & Data Monitoring: Collects and analyzes quality indicator data to improve service outcomes and educational effectiveness.
- Stakeholder & HR Coordination: Builds positive relationships with students and stakeholders while liaising with HR on complex personnel matters.
Required Qualifications:
- Education- Bachelors or Masters Degree.
- Experience- Certification by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) with endorsement in either special education or adaptive curriculum or Certification in another state.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
- Emotional Intelligence-Active listening and emotional intelligence to support students’ needs. Ability to foster a positive, professional school environment with patience and adaptability.
- Technical Skills- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication.
