Exercise Physiologist Position Summary
The Exercise Physiologist provides patient services and assists with day-to-day clinical operations of Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, plan, and administer patient treatment upon referral of physician using all the techniques and modalities of Exercise Physiologist
- Provide risk factor identification and lifestyle management education and service to individuals with or at risk for cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic disease
- Interview participant to assess the appropriateness and readiness of daily exercise session
- Take pre, post, and during exercise manual blood pressures
- Analyze and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
- Monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise
- Assist cardiac rehab staff with other tasks as assigned
- Educate patients in risk factors and lifestyle changes
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Continual ability to be mobile and stand
- Frequent sitting, walking, crouching, stooping, twisting, turning/pivoting, keyboarding, talking/hearing in person/on phone, and repetitive hand movements
- Occasional stationary standing, reaching overhead, grasping, pinching, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, and use of vision for close work/color vision
Relationship Management:
- Treats patients and all others with courtesy and respect
- Strives to welcome and be helpful towards any customers in contact with
- Receives no patient/family/staff dissatisfaction comments annually
- Effectively manages relationships with co-workers
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or similar
- Good Communication Skills
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS (American Heart Association)
- Must be able to analyze and interpret cardiac rhythms strips and cardiac monitoring strips
- Must demonstrate ability to take manual vital signs
- CCRP certification preferred, required within one year of hire
