What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Clerk position at Rivers Health?
Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Patient Access Clerk:
- Verifies and correctly enters patient demographic and insurance data
including any insurance notification required.
- Performs clerical duties such as admission, discharges, transfers
and deaths as needed
- Completes all required forms and scanning to maintain complete
patient record.
- Answers switchboard/phone and appropriately responds to emergency
alarms as required.
- Safely transports patients, supplies and specimens as needed.
- Responsible for accepting and processing payments.
- Processes department supply ordering, equipment maintenance, repair
requisitions and department mail.
- Maintains patient privacy and respects values of individual patients
and provides services accordingly.
- Provides cooperative and courteous service to patients, physicians,
staff members and visitors in a timely manner with the utmost of
professional behavior.
- Participates in unit meetings, statistical data gathering and
quality improvement activities including serving on quality
improvement teams.
- Maintains tidiness of registration and waiting area. Cleans desk,
counter tops, cabinets, etc. as needed.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, safety,
environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ER Specific:
- Observes and reports all patient concerns and changes in condition
to a Nurse immediately.
- Maintains current BLS certification.
- Performs and documents ER patient care technician duties while
maintaining aseptic technique as directed including:
- vital signs
- EKGs
- finger stick blood glucose monitoring
- inserts and removes urinary catheter
- administers enemas as directed
- obtains and records patient specimens
- Assists RN with other patient care duties
- Maintains patient room cleanliness as needed
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent.
