Job Summary And Qualifications

The STEMI Coordinator is responsible for the programs and resources that support the navigation of patients through complex healthcare environments for the optimization of care and outcomes. The STEMI coordinator is responsible for assuring compliance with national standards for quality of care for Chest Pain and STEMI patients as dictated by the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and The Joint Commission. What you will do:

  • You will assume a leadership role in the Monthly Chest Pain/STEMI committee meetings.
  • You will develop and recommend protocol and guidelines for best practice treatment of cardiac patients across the continuum of care.
  • You will educate nursing and ancillary staff on the best practice of ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) and AMI (Acute Myocardial Infraction) patients. Develops and supports education to meet all requirements of Chest Pain certification/accreditation and Riverside County STEMI protocols
  • You will oversee, analyzed, and trends data related to throughput of cardiac patients and provide data as requested by hospital leadership to initiate changes as appropriate and improve processes and outcomes.
  • You will participate in identifying needs, planning and implementing education programs within specialty areas for patients, families, community groups, and other designated healthcare facilities
  • You will perform outreach internally and externally to provide awareness and education of Cardiac Health.
  • You will work closely with CV Quality Leadership to assure metrics are in pace to show continuous improvement in the care for the Cardiac patients and CMS data reporting, as well as other registry data

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Valid California RN License
  • Current BCLS Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with graduation from an accredited school of nursing required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in a cardiovascular care setting
  • Previous critical care experience with an emphasis on cardiology preferred. Provided leadership in process improvement projects

It has the most extensive Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center in the Inland Empire region and is the primary recipient of STEMI (heart attack) cases in Riverside County. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a HeartCare Institute that offers both invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Riverside has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which it is very proud of.
