Job Summary and Qualifications
The Trauma Clinical Practice Coordinator (TCPC) performs as an educator and a mentor to staff along the entire continuum. The TCPC is a registered nurse who has in-depth knowledge of the clinical aspects of trauma care delivery and trauma program regulations, as well as the clinical experience in providing comprehensive trauma care in the acute care setting. The TCPC is a key component of the trauma program, providing oversight of education and clinical acumen in the facility, and understanding the relationship between robust performance improvement and the quality of trauma education and outreach activities. The Trauma Clinical Practice Coordinator assesses the care provided by nurses and other medical staff and reports any deviations from the standard to the TMD and TPD, involving nursing leadership and/or the medical staff. - You will assess competency and knowledge level of staff delivering trauma patient care services throughout the continuum of care.
- You will conduct routine patient care rounds to assess patient progress and appropriateness of therapy and nursing care/interventions/documentation
- You will design and deliver education programs based on principles of adult education which have measurable outcomes and suitable methods for evaluation of learning for trauma staff and members of the medical staff.
- You will assist in staff orientation to trauma services, expectations, and education and competency requirements for all staff affected by trauma guidelines
- You will apply new concepts, knowledge and skills gained from education and experience to the development of new systems and programs to enhance the quality of trauma nursing care
- You will coordinate, implement and evaluate outreach education, including performance improvement initiatives documenting loop closure. Report on details to the Trauma Program
- You will serve as a program and community liaison resource and perform public speaking and education to establish and cultivate positive working relationships among community agencies and trauma providers for trauma care education.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
- BCLS, ACLS & PALS required
- TNCC required
- Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) required.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (required within 12 months of hire)
- 3 years’ experience in Nursing required
- 3 years’ experience in Trauma Nursing preferred
- Experience in Education- Teaching and Facilitation of Learning required
- Experience in Project Management preferred
