POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The job of Instructional Assistant, Sign Language is done for the purpose(s) of assisting a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely, physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom who use American Sign Language as their primary language; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance and assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills. The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) is a service agency supporting the county’s 23 school districts that serve nearly 430,000 students. RCOE provides administrative support to districts, leads programs for preschool, special education, pregnant minor, corrections, migrant, and vocational students, and offers professional training, support and resources for teachers, administrators, and staff throughout Riverside County.

Six months of experience providing sign language interpreting for hearing impaired individuals. Experience in a school setting is preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES:
Valid California driver’s license is required
