Overview
The Payroll Technician performs duties in support of payroll processing to include accurately computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, auditing time and attendance records for compliance with established standards, posting changes in pay and tax status, and ensuring the organization remains compliant with all federal and state regulations related to payroll processing.
What you will do
- Process and manage bi-weekly payroll, adjustments, taxes, journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare payroll reports
- Research and respond to inquiries regarding earnings, pay deductions, leave balances, direct deposit, etc. Resolve pay discrepancies and process retroactive payments.
- Provide timely follow-up with managers, employees, and timekeepers on adjustment memos, direct deposit, savings bonds and garnishments issues
- Provide communication, training, and assistance to managers and timekeepers on pay practice issues in accordance with RHS policies and procedures
- Communicate with timekeepers, employees and co workers on a biweekly basis, reviewing policy, postings, and corrections
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Associates Degree, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance (Preferred)
Experience
- 1 year Accounting/Bookkeeping experience (Required)
- 1 year Experience in a payroll processing environment (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures
- Knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and tax regulations
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle personally identifiable information (PII)
Licenses and Certifications
- Fundamental Payroll Certificate (Preferred)
