Assists the Corporate Coding Manager with overseeing the daily operations for HIMS (Health Information Management Services) Inpatient Coder I & II team members, quality and productivity improvements, regulatory updates and staff training. Assesses, evaluates, and addresses daily workload and work queues; adjusts team members to meet the workload demands of the department. Helps manage DNFB (Discharged Not Final Billed) on a daily basis in order to facilitate the billing process within the established time frames across the health system.

What You Will Do
- Assists the Corporate Coding Manager with overseeing the daily operations for HIMS (Health Information Management Services) Inpatient Coder I & II team members and contracted Inpatient Coders, quality and productivity improvements, regulatory updates and staff training.
- Assesses, evaluates, and addresses daily workload and work queues; adjusts team members to meet the workload demands of the department. Helps manage DNFB (Discharged Not Final Billed) on a daily basis in order to facilitate the billing process within the established time frames across the health system and codes as necessary.
- Participates in the orientation and training of new coders. Assists Corporate Coding Manager to work on best practices to meet the individual coder training needs and with educating and training to HIMS (Health Information Management Services) policies and procedures or internal guidelines.
- Works with Clinical Documentation Improvement, Revenue Cycle Auditing, Quality, and other departments for the resolution of issues pertaining to coding, documentation, reimbursement, and to identify opportunities for education and training.
- Works on projects as assigned by the HIMS (Health Information Management Services) Management Team.
- Performs focused reviews and audits as directed to identify and ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10 CM and PCS codes on inpatient accounts.
- Participates in the hiring process including the interview of prospective candidates, recommendations on applicants' suitability, and assists in the selection of qualified candidates.
- Participate in ongoing coding educational webinars routinely and as needed.
- Review individually audited cases by third party companies and/or internal audits and provide a rebuttal if needed.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Associates Degree, HIMS (Health Information Management Services) or related (Preferred)
- 5-6 years Active Inpatient Coding (Acute Care) (Required)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (Required) or
- Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) (Required) or
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (Required) or
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT) - The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) (Required)
