What are the responsibilities and job description for the Riverside's Lifelong Health Earn and Learn Nurse Aide Program (Hospitality Assistant to CNA)- Saluda position at Riverside Health?

Riverside's Nurse Aide Program is intended to transition new hires from Hospitality Assistants to fully licensed Certified Nurse Aides.
In this program, you will begin by working as a Hospitality Assistant in a labor pool (as needed) status until your scheduled course begins. The course is an accelerated 4-week program that will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to take and pass your CNA boards. Classes require full-time day shift hours (participants are paid for all course and clinical hours).
Following the completion of the program and passing the Virginia Board of Nursing – Nurse Aide exam, you will move into a full-time or part-time CNA position at the location in which you are hired. Full-time CNA positions require a 12-month work commitment and part-time requires an 18-month work commitment upon graduation. Status is determined by facility need.
The work commitment must be fulfilled in a Lifelong Health facility (skilled rehab, long term care, or assisted living). Positions in home health or acute care do not qualify for the Earn and Learn program.
Graduates are eligible for reimbursement for costs associated with registration for National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam, to achieve CNA designation

As a Hospitality Assistant…
You will report to the Charge Nurse and work in conjunction with certified nursing assistants to ensure that residents needing only encouragement minimal assistance or non-medical supervision are assisted with eating and drinking as needed. There are also other basic tasks that may be assigned which will include but are not limited to: preparing dining room for meals, assisting with clothing protectors, reminding or assisting residents to their seats, passing meal trays and assisting in preparing food and drinks for eating, assisting with feeding as qualification allow, documenting meal consumption, answering call lights and responding to wander guard alarms, cleaning utility rooms, storage areas, and resident rooms/closets/drawers, emptying soiled linen, conducting leisure activities with residents.
As a Certified Nursing Assistant…
You will be responsible for performing tasks essential to the direct care of our residents. You will be responsible for providing care in the form of changing soiled garments, aiding in bathing and other hygienic tasks, and other needs relevant to the wellbeing of our residents.

- High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire. Standard First Aid required within 30 day of hire for Assisted Living/Memory Support units only.
- Successful completion of a minimum of 8 hours of a state-approved training course provided by Riverside.
- Must be age 18 or above.
