Overview
Manages the daily operations (24/7) to ensure a safe and secure healthcare environment and to maintain order throughout all assigned facilities and grounds. Ensures that the essential functions and services of the departments (security to include chauffer service and meal deliver service, transportation, life safety to include emergency management) are provided to customers. Supervises assigned staff and maintains the equipment and supplies required for the professional and administrative functions of the department (security, transportation, life safety to include emergency management). Under the direction of the Director of Facilities plans for disaster preparedness training courses, assists with conducting training with emergency management assets and equipment, conducts drills and exercises including related meetings and documentation. Participates with emergency/disaster safety committees. Assumes a leadership role within Patriots Colony during activation of an emergency operations plan or disaster. Assists with emergency communications platforms. Represents Patriots Colony on emergency planning committees and emergency management task force. Ensures that an image of professionalism, accepted ethical behavior and optimum customer service is constantly maintained within the department. Fills in for Director of Facilities when needed.

What You Will Do
- Responsible for maximizing net revenue, controlling expenses and controlling department(s) budget.
- Monitors/supports personal and departmental productivity measurements to meet needs of department/Center, i.e. flexing hours, shift changes, time off. Completes and maintains staffing schedules to ensure sufficient staffing. Review and makes recommendations to published schedules and activities as evidenced by the following criteria: Meets weekend, off shift, and holiday staffing requirements. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of payroll sheets and work schedules to minimize payroll adjustments. Reports to work on time, is dependable and reliable, and assists management to seek replacements for time changes of any type. Responds with flexibility to changes, adapts to varying work assignments (through multi-tasking and/or priority setting) to deliver services in an effective manner.
- Ensures that systematic and unsystematic rounds of facility grounds and buildings are conducted to provide for the safety and security of all persons and property and to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, criminal activity, and illegal entry. Ensures the enforcement of the facility’s policy and procedures such as trespassing, smoking, parking regulations and visitation at the direction of management. Handle disorderly conduct within facility.
- Maintains and ensures complete and accurate incident records. Reviews and ensures that incidents reports are written of criminal activities, unsafe conditions or unusual circumstances, including safety and fire hazards. Records and releases lost/found and patient valuables in accordance with policy or at the direction of management. Conducts in-depth initial investigation of all criminal incidents as assigned by management with documentation. Assists with the updates to all departmental manuals.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Fire Panels, Nurse call, and electronic lockdown systems. Conducts Audits and Safety/Security inspections of identified units and departments. Monitors and troubleshoots fire, intrusion, duress, medical and security alarm systems to ensure timely follow-up to events. Assures facility compliance with applicable regulations, rules, laws, and professional organizations standards by conducting and participating in daily, weekly or monthly inspection or drills at the direction of management, to include fire drill compliance and emergency preparedness participation.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize and accomplish assignments with accuracy and timeliness (work assignments completed by deadlines, received minimal customer complaints). Demonstrates ability to maintain logs, SOPs and current Communication manual, fire extinguishers and equipment. Creates and updates SOPs. Inspection of Security and Transportation vehicles and vehicle equipment to include scheduling of maintenance. Initiate performance improvement efforts and monitoring. Adheres to policy and procedure. Review goals, accomplishments, policies and procedures.
- Completes Computer Based Learning and other employee training modules necessary for position to remain up to date on safety issues, procedures and processes. Identifies opportunities for service improvement and participates in process improvement and departmental in-services. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and in accordance with RHS policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to keep work area neat, clean and in compliance with RHS, Accreditation and State safety standards.
- Serve as a resource to the Director of Facilities in managing the daily functions of the Security and Transportation departments. Provides operational leadership to staff daily and as directed by Management. Maintains data systems related to Life Safety (pull cords, pendant, electronic locks and mass communications systems). Demonstrates the ability to provide on-the-job training and facility familiarity training for new or reassigned officers to the shift to enhance retention and help reduce turnover of staff. Provides necessary leadership to ensure resolution to emergency situations. Demonstrates the ability to communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team. Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to work effectively to maintain an environment of excellence. Demonstrates RHS caring out loud behaviors.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, High school or equivalent (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Related Field (Preferred)
- 1 year Security (Required)
- 1 year Supervisory experience (Preferred)
- 1 year Safety (Preferred)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 60 Days(Required)
- Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
- Valid Drivers License Required
