The Senior Human Resources Director is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This role serves as a consultant to leadership on Human Resources related issues. This role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and is responsible for developing relationships and communicating proactively with other HR areas (People Operations, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Support Services, etc.) and brokers services as needed to support business units.

What you will do
- Develops business unit workforce strategy.
- Helps business leaders understand and address the people implications of business decisions.
- Ensures that business units are supported with the HR programs and resources needed to provide competitive advantage, team member engagement, and satisfaction.
- Serves as a member of business unit senior leadership teams, attending senior leadership meetings and consulting regularly with senior leaders on business strategy.
- Functions as an internal consultant and expert on human capital issues to help business units address challenges related to human capital (i.e. staffing challenges, training and development needs, employee performance issues, etc).
- Provides executive coaching and advice.
- Brokers the appropriate HR services for the business unit from HR Centers of Excellence and Support Services Center.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree, Human Resources or related field (Required)
- Masters Degree, Related field (Preferred)
Experience
- 10 years HR leadership experience (manager or above), to include at least 3 years of experience as an HR Director (Required)
- 3-4 years HR director level leadership experience (Required)
- Experience managing teams (Required)
- Experience working in/with all areas of HR (to include compensation, benefits, recruitment, employee relations, and workforce development) (Preferred)
- Experience with Workday HCM (Preferred)
- Experience managing teams across multiple locations/geographies (Preferred)
- Experience working in the business line supported (i.e. hospitals, medical practices, nursing homes) (Preferred)
- Experience working with executives and physician executives in a highly matrixed organization (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, ACA, DNV, CMS, etc).
- Expertise in federal and state employment laws (FMLA, FLSA, EEO, etc).
- Proficiency in using data to drive decision making, workforce planning, and performance improvement.
- Deep understanding of conflict resolution and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Understanding of pay and benefits structures in healthcare.
- Ability to align HR strategy with organizational goals, particularly in dynamic healthcare environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking to address workforce challenges.
- Strong ability to build cohesive HR teams and collaborate with cross-functional leaders.
- Skilled in mediating disputes and fostering productive dialogue in high-stress environments.
- Comfort with making high-stakes decisions that balance employee well-being with organizational needs.
- Ability to forge strong partnerships with clinical leaders, executives, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage stress and lead other effectively in crisis and/or highly emotional situations, such as pandemics or organizational restructuring.

- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) - Human Resources Certification Institute (Preferred)
