THE DEPARTMENT
The North American Sales team consists of Sales Directors, the operations and sales manager as well as the line’s CEO. The team increases sales for our travel agency partners. They share product and destination information, promotions and incentives, and sales and marketing tools to help our agencies market and sell to their clients. Our Sales Directors visit agencies, meet with owners/managers, conduct product training, and attend many industry shows/conferences to spread the Riverside Luxury Cruises news.
THE ROLE OF SALES DIRECTOR
Job responsibilities of a sales director include:
· 60-70% travel
· Generating and increasing sales within assigned territory
· Monitoring competitor products, services, marketing, and sales strategies
· Communicating advertising and sales promotion programs to assigned accounts to encourage implementation of programs that will generate sales, such as co-op advertising, direct mail, and consumer shows
· Recommending changes regarding revenue opportunities and potential sales volume, and changes in products, services, and policy
· Achieving established financial objectives
· Developing and maintaining relationships with the Inside Sales team to fulfill customer needs
· Keeping management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses
· Expressing ideas for process improvements to increase flexibility, reduce administrative costs, and increase interactivity with customers
· Contributing to a team effort by accomplishing related results or projects
· Understanding and creating department budgets for upper management
· May interact with global offices
· Collaborating with other business leaders and teams on cross functional strategic projects and developing departmental plans that support such projects
· Project management of the various projects within their department
· Relationship point of contact for vendors and other external stakeholders that impact their territory and partners
· Synthesizes data and information to make recommendations to upper management on strategic or high-value initiatives
The Sales Director is responsible for the following results:
· Educating customers and top accounts on our products and promotions by conducting training, educational sessions, meetings, and participating in various national trade and consumer shows
· Assisting key accounts with their individual sales and marketing strategy by conducting local market research
· Developing advertising and sales promotion programs for key accounts by utilizing media advertising, direct mail, trade shows, publicity, point-of-purchase, and audio-visual presentations
· Monitoring competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, current products, new products, and recommending changes by evaluating results and competitive developments
· Planning and executing projects and plans against goals and budget (e.g. defining outcome, setting timelines, determining resources needed, monitoring and controlling costs) while showing the agility to adjust to changes as needed to support the business and achieve organizational goals
· Cultivating business relationships with other departments and offices, and providing positive and effective representation in meetings with internal and external partners
· Managing ongoing process improvements and the integration of new technology across the organization in order to increase flexibility, reduce administrative costs, and increase interactivity with customers
· Contracting and managing (including ensuring internal IT and finance systems are in place to handle ) US wholesale accounts
· Contracting and managing US contribution to global accounts and coordinating global account approach
· Contracting and managing nontraditional US accounts and leveraging their unique ability to market in opaque currency
· Contributing to a team effort by accomplishing related results or projects
EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or; 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Presenting easily and effectively to make the sale and educate business partners
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Five years managing high growth accounts
· Business development in both traditional and e-sales channel environments
· Leisure travel knowledge with knowledge of river cruise industry and competitive brands
· Working level knowledge of Microsoft Office
