SUMMARY: Safely sets up and maintains sterile field, while becoming proficient in all surgical specialties. Participates as a member of the surgical team, and provides patient care as assigned by the Preoperative Coordinator.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum three years of experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: O.R.T. Certification from a recognized accredited program and/or equivalent experience will substitute the O.R.T. certification. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.
Essential Job Duties
Ability to respond to “Code Blue”, by gathering emergency equipment in the department.
Implement Aseptic Practices preoperatively and interpretatively.
Possess knowledge of AORN Standards and recommend practices for Preoperative Nursing.
Demonstrate technical skills in all surgical specialties at RMC Surgery Center.
Possess knowledge of all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, as well as their location within the surgical suite.
Responsible for initiating needle and sponge counts.
Possess knowledge regarding decontamination, cleaning, maintenance handling, and storage of surgical instruments.
Assist RN with transportation of patient from Per-operative Area.
Assume responsibility for gathering instruments and supplies for the following day’s cases.
Assist RN circulator with “turn over” between cases, each day, and assist Instrument Technician as needed.
Restock OR suites independently and assume any assignments assigned by OR Supervisor.
Perform functions assigned by the Office Manager or OR Supervisor as deemed necessary to keep the unit functioning on a day-to-day basis.
Duties subject to written or verbal communication by supervisory staff.
80% of time will be spent scrubbed in with the physicians and 20% in pulling and cleaning up after cases.

Salary: Starting from $26.11 to $37.86 an hour
