Description : SUMMARY :
The Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider’s role is to support the Riverside Radiology & Interventional Associates (RRIA) clinical practice. This position requires collaboration with multiple subspecialty practitioners and associated hospital support staff. The Advanced Practice Provider (CNP / PA) practices under the supervision of one or more collaborating Radiologists with a standard care agreement.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
1.Participates in the assessment and identification of patients referred to Interventional Radiology Services. Assists in the preparation of patients for Interventional Procedures including maintaining up to date knowledge of peri-procedural care.
2.Document appropriate pre and post procedure follow up in the EMR / Chart and evaluate / document patient consults and admission to the IR service.
3.Becomes proficient and maintains proficiency in basic image guided procedures including, biopsies, fluoroscopic guided lumbar puncture, myelogram, arthrogram, port studies, tube checks, and ultrasound guided paracentesis, thoracentesis, and thyroid FNA.
4.Plans and facilitates the continuity of care of both inpatient and outpatient interventional radiology patients with timely and appropriate documentation in the EMR / Chart.
5.Acquires and maintains knowledge of both oral and IV anticoagulation therapies with safety in interventional procedures.
6.Performs and documents the history and physical examination on assigned patients.
7.Provides relevant patient education when applicable, prior to and following interventional procedures.
8.Collaborates with supervising Radiologists in the development of a differential diagnosis of the presenting problem. Participated in devising and implementing a plan for management.
9.Collaborates with multidisciplinary health care team to devise a treatment plan based on patient needs.
10.Makes referrals as needed to other health professionals and community agencies.
11.Completes accurate billing information.
12.Participates in performance improvement activities.
13.Participates in Quality Assurance (QA) activities.
14.Seeks out and attends appropriate continuing education courses for maintenance of certification of specific license and to keep up to date on IR practice.
15.Assists in marketing efforts and promotion of practice when / if requested.
16.Interact in a positive manner with patients and staff members.
17.Establishes, maintains and improves strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the
public, other RRIA associates departments, and associates.
18.Maintains awareness of legislation and regulations governing CNP or PA role and communicates changes or additions to appropriate health team members.
19.Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both
intradepartmental staff and interdepartmental activities.
20.Maintains confidentiality and HIPPA compliance in all documentation and record keeping.
Requirements :
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
1.Licensed by the State of Ohio and NP or PA.
2.Graduate of an accredited practitioner school.
3.Certified by appropriate certifying body and approved by the Ohio Board of Medicine.
4.Advanced physical assessment skills. ACLS / BLS certified.
5.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, technical staff, clerical staff and others.
6.Maintain a professional appearance and provides a positive company image to the public.
7.Demonstrates willingness to perform all duties as assigned.
8.Complies with and follows RRIA human resources policies and procedures
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Professional Duties will be performed in an Acute Care Hospital. Work requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds including assisting in patient transfers. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Clinical operations require the use of safety equipment (Universal Precautions). Work duties may at times require exposure to stressful situations and may require irregular hours.
