Overview
Works under the supervision of the Manager/Director. Primarily responsible for the benefit collection/authorizations of patient scheduled appointments with therapists. Coordinating completion for insurance mandated referrals and authorizations in a timely fashion prior to the date of service, updating patient chart records with necessary referral information, flagging, and faxing appropriate medical records, contacting patients via telephone, and communicating appointment preparation details. Responsible for communicating with insurance payers' specific benefits pertaining to outpatient therapy. Works with patient access staff to provide relevant authorization information.

What you will do
- Coordinates and obtains timely insurance referrals/authorizations to ensure quality patient care. Educates patient regarding protocol for tests/appointments.
- Keeps up to date on referral criteria by reviewing updates from insurance carriers and attending training. Recommends to office manager any process improvements needed to improve quality of service. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Processes physician and patient requests for referrals in a timely manner. Responds appropriately and timely to patient calls.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)
Experience
- 1 year Medical office experience (Preferred)
