SUMMARY:
Applicant must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and be a licensed pharmacist in the State of California. A minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacist in an Ambulatory setting. Must have current CPR certification that complies with the guidelines set by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification may also be obtained prior to orientation. This position requires frequent travel between RSBCIHI clinic locations. Applicant must have reliable transportation and the flexibility to adapt to organizational scheduling and travel needs. The pharmacist shall have excellent communication skills needed to provide thorough drug consultations to outpatients. The pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to outpatients, enforces departmental and state standards and laws, enforces standards of storage and distribution, manages a tight formulary control system and participates in all quality improvement activities. The pharmacist provides excellent patient education, efficient drug distribution and maintains accurate daily records and files. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dispense prescriptions very accurately and in a timely manner.
- Thorough and complete patient counseling.
- Display good drug knowledge and communicate it to the patient.
- Discuss special precautions, adverse effects, outcomes, etc. with patients.
- Document all clinical interventions.
- Work on projects beneficial to the pharmacy during slack periods.
- Keep work flow organized and direct staff to maximize efficiency.
- Make the extra effort to increase customer satisfaction.
- Provide extra material to educate patients.
- Participate enthusiastically in all Quality Improvement Activities.
- Completes all reports, DUE’s, surveys and inspections thoroughly and on time.
- Minimize use of nonformulary drugs by actively converting nonformulary prescription orders to formulary drugs.
- The amount of outdates and returns are minimized.
- This position requires working on weekends as well as traveling as necessary.
Qualifications
Education:
Applicant must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Experience:
A residency in ambulatory care pharmacy is highly desirable. One year practical experience as a pharmacist (a residency may count as a year of experience.)
License:
Must be a licensed pharmacist in the State of California.
Certification:

Ability to:
Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
Physical Demands:
There is frequent exposure to contagious disease. Walking and standing is frequent for long periods of time. Some sitting and lifting are required. Driving will be required between clinics.
