What are the responsibilities and job description for the Riverside Technology, inc. is hiring: Scientist for GNSS Radio Occultation (RO), position at Riverside Technology, inc.?
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Support Scientist to join our team, contributing to the development and enhancement of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Radio Occultation (RO), GNSS-Reflectometry (GNSS-R) ocean surface wind retrieval, and Polarimetric RO data assimilation using the currently available NCEP Global Model. This position will support key research and operational objectives aimed at improving weather forecasting and Earth system modeling capabilities.
The successful candidate will be integral in advancing the use of GNSS-derived observations in global weather prediction models, focusing on the assimilation of data from GNSS Radio Occultation, GNSS-R, and Polarimetric RO measurements into the NCEP’s cutting-edge global model. Collaboration with international scientific communities and participation in ongoing scientific research will be encouraged.
Responsibilities
- GNSS Data Assimilation :
- Implement and optimize the assimilation of GNSS RO, GNSS-R ocean surface wind, and Polarimetric RO data into the JCSDA’s global model to enhance global atmospheric analysis and forecasting.
- Develop and refine algorithms for data processing and model integration, focusing on accuracy, reliability, and computational efficiency.
- Collaboration and Coordination :
- Work closely with NCEP researchers, operational meteorologists, and other scientific partners to ensure seamless integration of GNSS-based data into operational models.
- Participate in international collaborations and data-sharing initiatives.
- Model Development :
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of NCEP's global data assimilation systems by integrating new observational datasets and developing novel data assimilation techniques.
- Test and validate improvements to the model’s performance through extensive evaluation using real-time and historical datasets.
- Research and Publications :
- Conduct original research in the field of GNSS data assimilation, and contribute to high-impact publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Present research findings at relevant scientific conferences and workshops.
