What are the responsibilities and job description for the Body Mechanic B position at RIVERSIDE TRANSIT AGENCY?
The Body Mechanic "B" will perform vehicle body and chassis repair work on all Agency vehicles assigned.
Please be advised that this may involve assignment at either our Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work all weekdays, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

- Checking vehicle and diagnosing damages
- Paint vehicle surfaces and parts
- Fit and replace panels, repair dents and scratches
- Weld with gas and arc equipment
- Maintain proper maintenance and repair records
- Operate Agency vehicles as necessary (non-revenue service)
- Make road calls as needed
- Assist Body Mechanic "A" in the various duties of repair and paint
- Performs related tasks as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or its equivalent with at least two (2)* years experience in vehicular painting and body repair of automobiles, heavy-duty equipment, or buses. Must demonstrate abilities in and knowledge of painting, welding and body fabrication. *Education, which may include vocational studies, may satisfy up to the two (2) year requirement listed above.
A current valid non-restricted Class C Driver's License is required. Additionally, obtain an official DMV K4 printout from a branch of the DMV printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) must be provided with the application. The DMV K4 must be clear of suspensions for any reason within the past five (5) years and have no more than three (3) points within the past five (5) years, and no two (2) point violations.No accidents which applicant contributed to cause within 3 years from your application date

- Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months.
- Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.
- Preventable Accidents - only 1 written warning within the last year.
- Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above "Meets Standards."
- Applications to transfer to a different department, will be accepted once the 120 day probationary period has been successfully completed.
Advancement will be determined by qualification (as listed above) or by seniority in cases where qualification is deemed equal.
