Management Trainee Program Job Duties and areas of training:

Recruiting program participants will gain a strong understanding of where the driver lives, pay attention to hiring area, the type of applicant they are, recruiters will focus on drivers with excellent work history. Learn about the driving history, reports, disqualifying factor.

Safety Program participants will be expected to gain a strong understanding of fleet compliance and safety during safety-related rotational a job shadowing experiences. These functions include analyzing logs for violations or discrepancies, becoming familiar with both internal and Department of Transportation policies and procedures, monitoring driver speed, and ensuring that drivers attend required safety-training classes. Understanding the Hours of Service, learn the meaning of expirations codes.

Customer Service Representative (CSR) program participants will gain a strong understanding of the customer service segment of operations during an anticipated rotation of several months. The participant is required to learn and perform CSR functions, including daily monitoring of loads, making significant decisions regarding freight balance/imbalance within the network and booking freight accordingly

Planner program participants will gain a strong understanding of the planning segment of operations during an anticipated rotation of several months. The participant will be required to learn and perform all functions as a Planner. These functions include determining critical balance between regional capacity and demand, as well as processing data relative to unique equipment or load requirements to make appropriate operational decisions. Using good judgment and independent discretion, the program participant must assign loads to trucks, per company policies, making operational decisions based on achieving company goals of increased utilization of equipment, reduction of inefficiencies and providing outstanding customer service. The employee must work closely with other Planners and terminal personnel to coordinate driver, customer, and organizational needs.

Fleet Manager program participants will gain a strong understanding of operations during this rotation. The program participants will be required to learn and perform functions as a Fleet Manager, supervising a fleet of Drivers. These functions include learning key leadership techniques, leading driver availability and maximizing driver/tractor productivity. To excel in this role, the employee must become familiar with critical industry trends, as well as best case methods for establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with a fleet of Drivers in order to decrease negative driver turnover.

As appropriate, the program participant must work closely with a Human Resources assigned mentor to develop critical business skills and effectively prepare for future leadership opportunities within the organization.

The program participants will have the opportunity to work with Human Resources Leadership to identify and participate in additional job training opportunities in other corporate departments to gain a working understanding of the business.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations.
