What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Actuary position at RiverSource?
This position will support the life insurance pricing group by leading complex pricing projects and helping develop innovative solutions considering the impact of the market and other non-actuarial forces. The position will provide technical analysis and support by supervising, developing and enhancing a variety of complex actuarial models and reviewing work done by team. This includes managing, preparing, performing and communicating results of actuarial, financial, and risk analyses to peers and upper management while serving as the subject matter expert on projects.
Job Responsibilities
Provide technical analysis and support by supervising, developing and enhancing a variety of complex actuarial models, including updating pricing results due to updated assumptions, product design changes, and/or regulations. Communicates results to manager and upper management.
Play a key role as the subject matter expert in pricing projects. Work cross-functionally with other areas of the company including sales, marketing, compliance, product implementation, valuation/LFO, and GCO.
Research product design ideas as well as direct competitive intelligence work for development.
May provide people leadership to actuarial staff. Manage performance, seek professional development opportunities for direct report and provide the coaching and feedback necessary to have a high performing team.
Participate in professional development to maintain actuarial credentials.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree
ASA designation with 6 years of actuarial experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate well to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
Strong technical skill set (Excel, VBA, Python, actuarial modeling software)
Ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization
Strong understanding of insurance & annuity liabilities and financial modeling concepts
Preferred Qualifications
FSA Designation
Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related disciplines
Prophet/Prophet Enterprise experience
Life insurance pricing experience
Knowledge of life insurance industry and RiverSource’s Life Insurance Products.
