Eastern Montana Area Health Education Center (Eastern MT AHEC) at RiverStone Health is a part of an innovative statewide network of centers created to recruit, train, and retain healthcare professionals committed to providing care to underserved populations, including rural Montanans.
AIDS Education & Training Center (AETC)
The Montana AIDS Education & Training Center is a regional center, working in collaboration with the Mountain West AETC based at the University of Washington. The Montana AETC coordinates across the state to provide training to those who work with populations living with, or at risk of acquiring, HIV in an effort to improve outcomes across the HIV Care Continuum.
Job Summary :
Directs, coordinates and oversees the daily operations of respective program, including projects, policies and services.
The AETC Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing Mountain West AIDS Education and Training Center (MWAETC) training activities in Montana, along with coordination of other AHEC trainings throughout the year. This person will coordinate and / or deliver HIV presentations to medical staff and providers including those who serve minority populations. This will include outreach, logistics, preparation, delivery, consultation, evaluation, and follow up. This requires travel throughout the state of Montana, remote coordination of events, and remote delivery of content.
This is a grant funded position subject to annual renewal cycles.
Essential Functions / Major Duties and Responsibilities :
A. Outreach Coordinator Services 95%
- Coordinate efforts associated with the preparation of grant documents, submissions, and reporting.
- Review training protocols to ensure collection of data showing the completion of grant deliverables.
- Compile and maintain documentation databases and systems.
- Identify relevant guidance documents, best practices, or consensus standards.
- Interpret regulatory rules or rule changes and ensure that they are communicated through policies and procedures.
- Maintain relevant inventories of training supplies and documents.
- Proactively develop and maintain strong relationships with organizational partners and stakeholders.
- Participates in quality improvement and Emergency Preparedness activities.
- Attend and participate in site visits, meetings, and events as required.
- Responsible for planning and implementing AETC in-person trainings across Montana annually and some virtual trainings as well. Up to 15% travel required.
- Work with various healthcare facilities, Montana Department of Health and Human Services, public health departments, Montana Ryan White sites, and the Montana Public Health Institute to provide relevant trainings in HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, and health equity in person and via webinar.
- Collaborate with Mountain West AETC regional office.
- Coordinate the AETC preceptorship and student rotations through the Ryan White Part C Clinic at RiverStone Health.
- Be familiar with HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI care and treatment.
- Familiarize self with available resources, population norms and clinical care in each targeted location, including rural and tribal areas, and provide outreach.
- Plan, develop and implement quality educational programming for various healthcare disciplines in coordination with the Eastern Montana Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
- Provide geriatric education and training.
- Responsible for cleaning, transporting, and maintaining Geriatric Simulation Suit.
- Coordinate X-Ray workshops including the 104-hour Basic X-Rays Techniques workshop twice a year and an X-Ray CEU workshop. This includes set up / tear down of rooms, serving as the primary contact for students, ensuring the events are successful, etc.
- Explore options to improve and increase education offerings and partner with state agencies to provide continuing education to hospital and clinic staff in rural and underserved communities.
- Crosstrain with other Eastern Montana AHEC staff in order to promote collaboration and provide support.
- Proactively develop and maintain strong relationships with organizational partners, stakeholders, and new partners in underserved / rural communities to promote equitable access and participation in AETC programming.
- Adhere to and present sensitive content.
- Connect audiences to Mountain West AETC staff for further consultation.
- Responsible to provide, track and collect forms, enter data and run program reports in the AETC reporting system, all with a high level of attention to detail.
